You're now viewing all of my posts relating to 4chan. Enjoy!

Happy Caturday or
Every Post is a Repost of a Repost!

Just wait until Jesus gets back...Well everyone, I have almost gone an entire week in between Caturday posts without a single piece of content. This semester really is hard on my blog. I've got so many projects (real projects, not these fake school ones) up in the air that its hard to keep everything together and still have extra time to generate content. Don't worry, I won't just fade off into the ether and let my precious little blog die off.

Right now I'm working on an awesome new file organization program that I'm hoping will finally end my file storage issues. I have many gigabytes of storage space spread out across my entire network that I've never really been able to effectively use. I've got 3 or so IDE drives in my file server, an 100G in my MacBook and at least 500G in my main desktop system and its hard to effectively utilize this space. I'm working on a new application that will let me easily create a SAN from these devices, upload data to the application which will then be in charge of storing and retrieving these data. I'm excited for when I finally get it finished as its shaping up to be very useful.

No more precarious RAID1 for me... until then - have a happy Easter and enjoy your chocolate and colored eggs for Jesus.

Caturday win?

Wow, I won Caturday for once. It's a shame I'm in this damned Battletoads costume.

Caturday again?

Despite being engaged in other activities, Jordan has still won!

pwned, I win Caturday

Guess what. Jordan wins Caturday for once! 12:14A!

Caturday Now Has Tags!

That's right, in a weeknight code-a-thon I, the great guru, added in tagging support for the beautious kitties found on my Caturday page. I shall now have to begin going through my kitties and adding in their metadata for everything to be worth anything... but now it's just a matter creating some well crafted XML files!

Maybe I'll have to force Draz to help me...

James, you can upload your cats to your home directory at your leisure. I will move them out later after I get a unique-ifying script written up.

Caturday Is On Rails!

Well, spirited by the success and ease of the Mongrel deployment - I decided to go full tilt. The joys of Summer has allowed me to finally rewrite my Caturday page in Ruby on Rails! This is quite a joy, because I can finally work on easily adding in new features.

What's new? There's currently a tag stub that'll be put in short order to aid in recollecting cats. You can also finally bookmark the cats, since I go based off of filename rather than straight ID now. Oh, and of course I did some design tweaking. ENJOY!

Caturday's Tomorrow!

Alright guys, tomorrow is caturday! In honor of the great kitties I have updated my caturday page to offload image processing elsewhere. This will result in vastly improved speeds while browsing my large collection of cats! Hopefully 4chan doesn't go down this weekend, and there will be a happy mega-caturday thread that will give me more cats. The dogs will lose!

Jesse; there's no way that you can possibly resist the cat to the right!

David; Congrats on finding out your baby is a boy!

The rest of you; enjoy your cats and be sure to post this weekend!

Um... wow. One of my ads to the right is about paying someone to level your WoW character. $200 and you too can be level sixty!

Caturday Updates!

I have retooled my venerable Caturday Page! It's now more user friendly and attractive. I'm not going to put too much into giving it a full-fledged design, but I believe the current re-arrangement makes it much more pleasant. I've also enacted a max-width property on some of the images to prevent gigantic ones from making you scroll all around. Enjoy!

Caturday's Back!

Ok, so Caturday's up and fully functional again. I decided to consolidate the two server processes using virtual hosting this time around to save on shared resources, but found that nobody was going to the new server! I have no idea how my original Caturday page got so popular - but the new one sure as hell isn't getting close. Consequently, I've put up a second server process to serve up the little manual redirect that you see there. I'm hesitant to make it an automatic redirect, for fear that Google will dislike me.

Well, that's it for now. Enjoy your cats!

More Cats!

At the risk of alienating Jesse... THERE'S MORE CATS! Someone initiated an emergency caturday thread this morning and I earned 10 new cats! Joy! I'm currently up to 364 or so cats... maybe I'll hit the 400 mark this weekend? Who knows!

Also, did you know that an rss feed? Yes, I managed to snag the feedburner caturday feed location! Exciting. I'm also climbing towards the top of the straight "caturday" google search. Maybe I'll actually have to take some time to spruce up the caturday page... hmm.

4Chan Actually Taken Seriously!

I was browsing /b/ today and noticed something startling. It would appear that during a recent thread about coming up with the most ridiculous bomb threats, a man posted something regarding an NFL stadium. Government officials apparently took note of this and took it quite seriously. He's now facing charges and penalties.

What makes this very interesting is that the media has labeled it a "hoax". You see, most people take the word "hoax" to include intent to deceive. Simply because words appear in some back-water chatroom does not imply intent of deception. Simply because someone believes something that you stated, does not include deception - the intent must be there.

I'm not sure about you, but if you believe something that you see on /b/... you're in for a big surprise in life. As can be seen from the caturday pictures, 4chan is not a serious place. From desu to lazer chargin', there's nothing about /b/ that would lead someone to believe it is a source of sober comments. Couple that with the fact that the particular thread in question probably included many barrel rolls into someone's pooper as a suggested method for NFL-related destruction and you have officially achieved ludicrous speed!

Believing /b/ to be full of fact and truth is like wandering into a prison, and believing all of the inmates when they say that they're innocent and dropped the soap. Or, perhaps like wandering around an insane asylum (is there some PC term for that today too? Home for those with altered perceptions of reality and/or morality?) and believing every distorted view of the world.

I suppose that the FBI should also investigate the copy pastas about how to summon ghosts and have all of your known relatives killed as a result. I also hear that the Fresh Prince of Bel-Aire was responsible for the WTC attacks. Aaaaand, did you know that George Bush likes to eat cats for breakfast?

Here's the YouTube link to the video. I originally heard about this on 4chan itself, so if it's wrong - someone let me know.

And to the comment, "It's like yelling fire in a crowded theater!"... that's not quite true. It's like yelling "Jesus Christ, it's a Lion! Everybody in the car!" in a well lit theater where everyone can plainly see that there is in fact, not a lion present.

Idiots.

Update; here's another YouTube posting. Goddamn idiots. That's all I can say; "The dep't of Homeland Security is urging Americans to go about their normal business, and go to football games" (paraphrased). I seriously don't get how it could have been construed as "scary" by anybody with an IQ above 30. Ah, well. This is yet another reason why I don't watch mainstream media.

It's Caturday Again!

Some of you may have noticed that today is the greatest of all days of the week... CATURDAY!

In honor of Caturday, and my own laziness, I have made an amazingly death-defying modification to the Caturday page. It now supports RSS! That's right, you can now subscribe to my caturday feed and get the best of 4chan's cats delivered right to your machine!

On a side note, as soon as I added the RSS feed - google stopped indexing the caturday page. Odd?

Caturday Updates and Randomness!

While I know that Jesse hates Caturday, I still feel compelled to post about my many many updated cats on my Caturday page. You saw the link up top, right? Well, it's come to my attention that a good bit of my hits actually come from caturday searchers. Well, there's more cats!

Since Caturday comes from /b/, and /b/ is random - I felt like sharing something that I jotted down while my Stats professor was busy rambling about something completely irrelevant to the class.

Peanut butter jam flies hard while the curtains fall. Can you see it? Starfire. Raging while the cat licks its paws. Avast! Scoundrel! I want my sheet returned pressed and clean, without your tattery paper added in generous amounts. While there are only 49 left, I still think that mice are cute and squeaky. Do you like spoons? Well, Babbles does.

Sara laughed heartily upon seeing my glowing gospel.

Something else interesting that I've gleaned from my logs; a few users end up here from slashdot. My level of confoundedness is unimaginable. I haven't made a post to Slashdot in ages. I mean that. Somewhere around the Paleozoic era when I had dial-up was my last post. Seriously, how did these people get to my site from the Paleozoic era? Bafflement.

Photoshop Tennis

So, I sent Andy a shopped picture from Emily and I's wedding tonight and mistakenly ignited a round of Photoshop tennis. This is a terrible thing that consumed almost an entire hour of my life. Still though, quite fun and much hilarity ensued. You may behold our final product; and sometime tomorrow I will post the rest of the interum shots to my flickr account.

I need some extra text to fix some floating issues. Desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu desu.

Caturday Just Got Better!

In honor of Caturday, I have improved my caturday script! It now displays upcoming challengers with thumbnails... better yet... no more repeat-cat! The order of the cats is now fixed, and predictable so that you can skip over all the cats you've seen. For those that haven't been keeping track - I have been routinely adding cats, so don't forget to check out the tail-end of the list if you haven't already*.

Now, celebrate Caturday in style!

* And you know... you're not Jesse. The only man I've ever met that doesn't think Caturday is great. :)

Everyday is Caturday!

So, I felt an itch to program in PHP again... and to setup Apache, to make sure that I've still got it... well, I do. I've programmed up a quick little Caturday script. This server may fluctuate, but you can view cute photoshopped cats at while it's up.
