You're now viewing all of my posts relating to Music. Enjoy!

Hooray! Music!

Alas, I never have time for anything anymore. I barely had time to get this mp3 exported, but I wanted to do a flash based mp3 player this time. Oh well, if I wait longer I'll find that I just let it fall by the wayside completely. So, today there is an actual update! I did a cover of Boys Like Girls' - Thunder last night, so here it is. Sorry that I couldnt do a decent post around this, lack of time sucks incredibly.

Another Day Off, Another Song

Ohoho, today was a vacation day for me! Rather than sit around all day simply playing games, I went ahead and recorded up another song. I'm actually quite pleased with how this one came out, and I've always loved Howie Day. I was playing around today and realized that I knew how to play Ghost way back in the day, but haven't played it in awhile. Loe, GarageBand came up on my MacBook and my guitar lept into my hands. So, without further ado - my cover of Ghost. Om nom nom!

No, this is not in honor of that evil spy in TF2. Bastard.

Oh fine, look at my cover of Still Alive as well. Obviously not accurate, as you should buy the exceptional sound-track if you want that.

More Musics!

I know that I will never win the approval of Mr. Andy condescending pants but no matter. Back in the dim memories of my youth, I stumbled upon the site of a prominent member of the Linux community. It just so happened that this guy, OctobrX, was not only a great artist and creator of themes - but he was also a guitarist. Of the amateur variety. It was refreshing to finally hear something made by real people, instead of assembled and canned for public consumption and display of only the most perfect specimens.

So, here I am. I got a new Mac and a shiny new toy in Garage Band. I found that the microphone built into the system is of relatively decent quality and I want to put out some recordings of me dicking around and having fun - and showing that you don't have to be in the Billboard Top 100 or under twenty to be a musician.

So; here we are. A relatively decent cover of Copeland's song "Brightest". It's one of my favorite songs on that album and I love singing it in the shower when nobody's around. Enjoy! Don't worry, it's not a Rickroll.

Final Fantasy VII: Voices of a Lifestream

You may or may not have heard of it - but ocremix has released a most excellent rendition of the FFVII sound track. I've been listening to it for a few days, and I am most in love with it. Cid's Theme is probably one of the coolest songs that I've heard in a long time. I've had the hook part stuck in my head all week.

Almost enough to make me want to hook up my Playstation and actually play Final Fantasy VII - even though I've barely scratched the surface of Final Fantasy X. Something about X just isn't very compelling for me. The story's there, for sure... I want to see what happens when Tidus finally faces Jecht... but the linearity of the game is heartbreaking especially since it's a JRPG grind-fest for the most part.

Anyway, go grab the torrent from the project's homepage and get your groove on to some awesome covers. you may also feel free to chastise me in the comments section for my failure to complete Final Fantasy games.

Dual Core, Nerdcore

Ok, sorry. I'm not a fan of rap or nerdcore for that matter. However, Dual Core deserves some mad... props. I don't believe that I've ever heard any nerdcore that dropped in Triple-DES encryption or a recent (and real) Linux kernel revision number in a relevant manner. I might even have to pick up their "CD" as a result.

Trent Reznor, You 'Da Man

So, it appears as though Trent Reznor is none too happy with his label. It's nice to hear a big artist who's angry with the way Big Media is today. Of course, Trent's always been keen to catch on to the ebbing of the market. Remember when he did the Quake sound-track? That was good stuff.

I had a chance to talk with the life-partner of someone high-up in the BMG foodchain over the last weekend. They really do believe that copyright violation is theft. However, it's only theft if its their content. It's ok if its happy birthday or copyrighted church propaganda.

So, when was the last time that you bought anything from the *IAAs of the world? I'm at three years now. Thankfully my media interests provide me with a wealth of other sources for media that don't involve those lumbering beasts.
