For Science! The Coffee! Day 0!
September 06, 2007
So, my petri dishes came today. Oh the joys! This evening I brewed up a batch of my standard strength coffee to test just how long it takes to grow shit. Oh, but what fun would one dish of coffee be when I could have a whole set?! Well, I am currently testing:
- 50mL Coffee
- 25mL Coffee + 25mL CoffeeMate Creamer
- 25mL Coffee + 25mL Milk
- 50mLCoffee + 1 packet non-dairy creamer
- The brewed coffee grounds
What do you guys think is going to grow the fastest? I'm thinking that the brewed coffee grounds will get life before anything else (just from experience) followed closely by the CoffeeMate Creamer. Where's your guys' votes?
Ed 2007/09/07: I'm going to post update threads every two days or so. I really have no idea how long it will take to grow stuff on the coffee - but I think that every day will be too much.

My guess is that the milk will go bad before the creamer. Not sure about teh brewed coffee grounds. My guess is they'll either be the worst, or the best.

Mind you, the CoffeeMate Creamer's second ingredient is High Fructose Corn Syrup. Care to change your choice?
Also, I'm betting on the grounds first (experience aside) because they provide a solid footing for stuff to grow, as opposed to the liquid. I'm almost afraid that the liquid will just take too long to grow anything and that bugs will find it first. Hopefully not.
