The Blizzard Attacks!
February 28, 2007
So, we're supposed to be getting a massive blizzard here in Minnesota over the next 24 hours. They're forecasting between 12 and 20 inches - and I'm excited. I've never seen that much snow before. There's even the threat of work being canceled - gasp.
Of course, school won't be canceled. SCSU doesn't cancel for anything. Of course, the administration building will be closed and no professors will show up - but school will still be in session and we'll have to come to see the posting on the door.

School itself may not be cancelled, but individual profs might still cancel class! Luckily my teachers usually shoot emails to warn us. I hope so, because I really dont want to go to class tomorrow morning.

Interesting. Well, that'll give me some more time to play around with Vista. You may have noticed that I hadn't been online in a while. That 80 gig drive started acting funky again, and I couldn't readily find my XP disc, so I thought I'd test drive Vista myself. After going back and reading your posts about it, I'm actually kinda surprised. Aside from some of my old hardware no longer being supported, I'm finding I'm not noticing or having a lot of the problems people are describing. So I'm curious, have you poked around anymore with Vista at all since before RTM, Jordan?

James, no I haven't. Fricking Dell STILL hasn't shipped their "express upgrade" packages. Idiots.
Andy, most of the time I go to campus only to find a big note on the door. I thought that there was a requirement for SCSU profs to not know about the internet.

Ah, well then we shall have to exchange notes sometime then.

James, I'm curious - how is game performance? That was where I really noticed a downfall in Vista compared to XP. I am able to play BF2 on High Graphics settings in XP, but only choppily on low on Vista. Perhaps nVidia finally released some updated drivers...

So far, I have installed and tested Command and Conquer: Generals. 1600x1200 screen, High detail settings. No problems at all. I do, of course, plan on testing more games when I have the time to do so.

Sounds nice... I may be giving it another go.
