The Internet is Falling!

So, we've been experiencing a lot of high packet loss and latency in the St. Cloud area. I've heard rumors of a dying AT&T router somewhere losing packets, but haven't seen anything definitive. ATT locks their hardware down anyway, so even pings don't work at them. Has anyone else out there on the great intarweb seen these kinds of issues?

Seen?!?! I am feeling it in my soul at this point. We have 2 huge upstream providers and they are both being horrible. Our internal network is solid as a rock yet still y customers are pissed and there is nothing I can do but hope for understanding.

david

Yes, I've felt it and my co-worker (on Charter) has complained quite a bit about gaming lag as well. I haven't contacted Jesse yet, because I thought it was gonna be short/temporary :P Looks like all we can do is wait then.

Jesse; I couldn't imagine being in your position right now. Trying to explain to people that you don't run the internet... difficult stuff. Perhaps you should simply suggest that it's a series of tubes and that they're clogged with stock quotes.

(btw, as of 09/29 everything seems to be clearing up. I've had pings running at 15s intervals for a few hours and have seen zero packet loss)

Jesse

I can report the same thing. Dave, you are a rock star. Thanks for hanging with me. You guys may ar may not believe how far I have to dumb down for some people. I beg for forgiveness at times as well. Anyone wanna answer my customer service lines for me tomorrow?

Jesse

Jordan, I sent you a message.

david

Things seem to be better for me as well. Haha, no problem Jesse and no I certainly don't want to answer those calls. I used to answer some tech calls at Best Buy, that was enough for me, although it's amusing (and sad at the same time) to hear so much stupidity.

Jordan T. Cox

Hmm... tech support calls. Reminds me of one I received once...

This judge once called in about "our software breaking his computer". He installed our software, and then *poof* his computer turned off and wouldn't turn back on. As heads are busy being scratched, there's a thunderclap followed by a cheer; "Mah powah's back on!"... ... ...
